    Clicks or Herds

Networking should be more than just meeting groups of people.  If you notice in any networking group you will always find people gravitate toward people they already know!  That is called herding and in our society we call it clicks!  Yet herding is a natural tendency and instead of fighting it why not learn from it and find out why?  Do these groups scare people who might be in charge of a group?  Why not learn how to encourage healthy herding and teach others how to include new visitors into the group they fit most with?

Do you agree with this statement?

People do business with people . . . they know, trust and respect!  Could this be why people tend to form clicks or herd together?

    Re: Clicks or Herds

I make it a habit to always be conscious of anyone near me or by themselves.  I will motion for them to come to my herd or I will go and get them and bring them to the herd.  I find that this ability is a lost art.  I would love to teach others how to gather, but first they have to have eyes to see.

Once I have made someone feel a part of the herd they feel as if they trust me.  I respect them and then they find it very easy to get to know me.

I take the philosophy of doing business with people we know, trust and respect and work it backwards.  And it has to start somewhere.  I choose to respect others by making them feel wanted and included.  The rest is easy.

     Very well said Debbie!

And I have found the very easiest way to "get over" my own nervousness is to act like the Host where ever I am, including finding people to help feel more comfortable.

I am looking forward to getting to know you better.

    be well and
